Sweet Sundaes

The boys and girls have been working to learn their multiplication facts with fluency since the second quarter.  Every time they mastered a new factor they earned a new ingredient for an ice cream sundae. They were given a construction paper piece to paste in their math journals so they could watch their sundaes grow as they progressed through their facts.

 Here are the ingredients:
0s and 1s : bowl
2s and 3s: banana
4s, 5s, 6s: scoops of ice cream
7s: chocolate syrup
8s and 9s: whipped cream
10s: cherry on top

Thanks to our wonderful parents for sending in all the goodies. The reward was sweet.

Multicultural Day

Today was a great day!  We started off learning about composition and warm and cool colors from an artist from Canada. We were able to complete our artwork and mount it to look very professional.

We then moved to painting on rice paper using bamboo brushes as we "traveled" to China, followed by metal work from Mexico.

The experiences continued with an animal touching show and hands-on drumming. By the time we ended the day with the jumpies, popcorn and snow cones we all had to agree: It was the best day ever!
